Are you gearing up for a magical journey to the happiest place on earth? As a seasoned Disneyland enthusiast who’s embarked on five memorable trips, including visits during December, October, and August, I’ve learned a thing or two about what it takes to make the most of your time at the park. To help you prepare for your own Disneyland adventure, here are five essential items you won’t want to leave home without.
1. Comfortable Footwear: With miles of walking ahead of you, comfortable footwear is an absolute must for navigating the sprawling parks of Disneyland. My first trip I wore regular flats from Ardene and I was in so much pain at the end I could hardly stand it. This time around I wore my best Nike sneakers and although I still had sore feet, I was much more comfortable than the first time! Opt for supportive shoes that have been broken in prior to your visit to avoid blisters and discomfort. Trust us, your feet will thank you at the end of a long day on concrete!
2. Hydration: Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining energy and preventing fatigue during your Disneyland adventure. Be sure to pack a refillable water bottle to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. While there are water fountains located throughout the parks where you can refill your bottle, you may also want to consider bringing along electrolyte packets to replenish lost minerals from sweating in the California sun.
3. Portable Fan: When the sun is shining and the crowds are thick, a portable fan can be a lifesaver for staying cool and comfortable. Whether it’s a handheld fan or a small battery-operated fan that clips onto your bag can make all the difference in beating the heat and keeping your cool during long waits in line.
4. Bandaids and First-Aid Supplies: With all the excitement and adrenaline of a day at Disneyland, it’s easy to overlook minor injuries like blisters or scrapes. That’s why it’s essential to pack a small first-aid kit with bandaids, antiseptic wipes, and any necessary medications you may need. Trust us, having these supplies on hand can turn a potential boo-boo into a minor inconvenience rather than a major setback.
5. Portable Phone Charger: Last but certainly not least, a portable phone charger is a non-negotiable item for any Disneyland excursion. Between snapping photos, checking wait times on the Disneyland app, and navigating Genie+, your phone battery is sure to drain quickly. My favourite charger is this one from Amazon because it charges by directly plugging into the wall and comes with 3 outputs! Unfortunately, I left it charging at LAX and had to re-buy it in preparation for our trip to NYC.
Packing these five essential items – comfortable footwear, hydration, a portable fan, bandaids and first-aid supplies, and a portable phone charger – will set you up for a successful and memorable day at Disneyland. By planning ahead and being prepared, you can focus on making magical memories that will last a lifetime. So pack your bags, don your Mickey ears, and get ready for an adventure of a lifetime in the happiest place on earth!
