North Okanagan-born-and-raised photographer Camillia Courts began her journey into professional photography in 2009. While skilled in many realms of the craft, Camillia chose to center her focus on weddings and portraits, including couples and families.
A natural storyteller, Camillia feels compelled to capture photos which explore her creativity while documenting significant moments in her clients’ lives. She is known for her signature dreamy, sun-kissed style, achieved by creating the perfect environment for each subject. She accomplishes this by engaging in conversations, listening with her ears and her camera, and paying attention to the smallest of details. Camillia’s photos are honest, sincere and intimate. She has spent the last decade honing her artistry and garnering a reputation as one of the Valley’s premiere and most sought-after wedding and portrait photographers.
For the past five years, Camillia has been voted #1 photographer in the North Okanagan by Okanagan Life Magazine. Her work has been prominently featured on Style Me Pretty, Brides.ca and Wedding Bells. Her love of stylized photography and penchant for character artistry led to an ongoing photography project with her daughter which went viral. Camillia’s original photos from this venture have been featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Buzzfeed, Hello Giggles, Popsugar, Bored Panda and other popular sites and platforms, earning her international attention and an extensive Instagram and Facebook following. She is widely recognized for her creativity in both vision and photo editing.
Camillia remains an active member of the community, expanding her business and contributing to the local photography and arts scenes. With a decade of honing her aesthetic sensibilities and technical skills under her belt, she is passionate about sharing her extensive knowledge of photography and photo editing through the workshop series she is creating for students of photography eager to learn the tools of the trade.
Camillia is a proud mother of two children who continue to be her favourite subjects to photograph. In her spare time, Camillia can be found singing, dancing, playing the ukulele and participating in a plethora of home improvement/DIY/crafty projects.
